7 things About me

Well, I have not officially been tagged for this meme, but I am going to take this opportunity to start blogging again. I am not going dwell on my blogging struggles of the past, but I am going to work at writing new blog posts in the new year and let things fall where they may. So I am going to start this new blog with the 7 things about me.

1. Every time I read the 7 things about me blog posts I can't help but sing the song in my head 7 things by Miley Cyrus. I don't know why, but my brain makes these weird associations. So I thought I would just share that.

2. In high school I wanted to become a chef. I toured the culinary school and blew off my SAT's because I didn't think I would ever go to college. Well, I did not go to culinary school and I enrolled in college three times before I actually went. Third time is a charm.

3. I have been with my husband Matt for 15 years, but we have only been married for 7 years. We lived together for many years and had both of our children prior to getting married. I guess you could say that I have done everything in life out of order. Matt and I lived together, had kids, then got married, then I finally decided to actually attend college. I wouldn't have it any other way!

4. When I started college I was enrolled in Early Childhood Education. When it was all said and done I got my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, but I am working at the Middle School. I have found that God has a funny way of changing your plans for you!

5. My maiden name is Yoder which is a known name in many Amish communities. No, I am not Amish. However, I have heard every Amish joke around and I was always asked where my horse and buggy were parked. On our wedding day our friend Aimee was proud of herself for telling my husband that our house had been "de-yoderized".

6. My family is very important to me. My father is one of seven children and I grew up with many extended family functions. I love to hang out with my Grandmother, aunts, uncles, and cousins. We still all get together several times a year! Pictured here is my Grandmother who is my hero. She grew up in Ireland and met my Grandfather in England during the war. She came to the United States on the Queen Mary and raised seven children with an alcoholic husband. She also spent so much time with all of her grandchildren. My family is great and they are always there to help out at the drop of the hat.

7. I love food. Pasta is my favorite. My motto is any shape, any size, any sauce. If you feed me I will do just about anything!

So there you have it folks. 7 things about me. I could go on, but I will save that for another time. Thanks for the opportunity to blog again. I'm not sure if there are many left who have not been tagged so I will tag no one.

  1. I think doing things out of order gives you a unique perspective and appreciation for those things that everyone else does as if by prescription! ... and I personally like bow-tie pasta the best. It tastes better because it's cuter than the elbows.

    Thanks for your fun post!

  2. Thanks Sharon. I must admit that I do like Kraft Spiral Macaroni&cheese better than the regular elbow macaroni kind.

  3. Okay you just ruined it for me with the Kraft Mac and Cheese. Although I love the stuff, original is the only way to go. But I do love my husband's sauce on any kind of pasta.
